Joshua Rickards, who came through an apprenticeship with Burnley College and Nelson & Colne College, values the on-the-job learning and the opportunity to apply his college education in real-world scenarios. He appreciates the progression opportunities at ELE and is keen to support new apprentices as they join the business. As Joshua puts it, “My time at college showed me ‘how to learn’, but it’s my time on the shop floor at ELE that has truly allowed me to learn the job. The hands- on experience and the opportunity to apply what I’ve learned in a real-world setting have been invaluable.”
Daniel Connor highlights the responsibility and trust ELE places in its apprentices. He values the supportive environment and the flexibility to move around different sections on the shop floor, which benefits both the company and the apprentices. Daniel describes ELE as an approachable, supportive, and friendly company to work for.
Tobias and Alex, both in their third year, share similar positive experiences. Tobias appreciates the positive working environment and the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues. Alex felt immediately valued by the company during his interview and is looking forward to his next rotation in fast hole drilling. Both see a bright future for themselves at ELE, with aspirations for management roles.
Thomas Taylor’s journey from apprentice to maintenance manager is a shining example of the career progression possible at ELE. Starting as an apprentice in 2022, Thomas now oversees maintenance operations, demonstrating the company’s commitment to
developing its staff. He emphasises the importance ELE places on training and continuous development, ensuring all staff reach the right skill level to meet the demands of a high-paced production environment.
